Before this kitchen-dining room restoration, this room began its life as a cattle shed before being used as four small rooms and kitchen. The whole section of the house needed to be restructured and opened up to reveal its potential. The ceilings were taken down and plaster stripped back to reveal original brick walls which were restored. The beautiful oak beams used in this kitchen were cut from the neighbouring forest and used both to create high vaulted ceilings and a lounge area to the side of the kitchen. All walls were treated for damp, re-plastered and painted. Specialists were brought in to install an automated lighting system and modern plumbing. Original windows were stripped back, treated and repainted. Lastly a beautiful ‘outdoor feel’ flagstone floor was laid.
